Joliet, Ill. – WCSF-FM 88.7 FM, the radio station of the University of St. Francis (USF), is currently seeking community donations of used and collectible music and memorabilia. If you cannot bear to throw out your pre-loved media, donate it to WCSF!
Donations can include, but are not limited to: vinyl 33s, 45s and 78s; 8-tracks, reel-to-reel and cassettes; VHS tapes, and DVDs; sheet music, music books and comic books; professional and home audio equipment, and; instruments. USF students will organize and catalog your treasures for WCSF’s annual Mega Music Rummage Sale this fall. All donations are tax deductible and all proceeds from the Mega Music rummage sale will be used to support the educational mission of WCSF.
WCSF-FM 88.7 FM broadcasts a variety of formats including pop, jazz, folk, oldies, classical, religious, world, sports, talk and the popular Spirit of Christmas programming.

Joliet, Ill. – The University of St. Francis (USF) is pleased to announce it is the recipient of a $10,000 contribution by the Midland States Bank Foundation. The contribution will support projects and administration of the USF Center for Nonprofit Excellence (CNE).
“The USF CNE is impacting the people served by the nonprofits in Will County and the nonprofits, themselves, by making them stronger and better able to fulfill their own missions. We sincerely thank Midland States Bank for supporting our efforts to help these organizations focus on their mission-driven efforts,” said Maribeth Hearn, Ed.D., director of the USF Career Success Center and co-director of the USF Center for Nonprofit Excellence.
The USF CNE provides efficient and value-added professional services to Will County nonprofit organizations with limited financial resources and whose missions are aligned with the Franciscan core values of respect, integrity, service, and compassion. This allows the nonprofit organizations to focus primarily on their core mission-driven objectives in the community.
In addition to professional services, the USF CNE a, the USF CNE recently partnered with Shorewood HUGS during Women’s History Month to collect toiletry items for women at MorningStar Mission in Joliet.

Joliet, Ill. – High School students considering a career in education and who are interested in a unique, on-campus leadership experience are encouraged to participate in the University of St. Francis (USF) College of Education’s (COE) Future Educator Summer Academy 2023 in June.
The USF COE Future Educator Summer Academy 2023 will take place on June 13-14, 2023, on the university’s main campus in Joliet. The experience will provide opportunities for participants to:
- explore careers in education and learn what it takes to be a GREAT teacher;
- network with educators and other high school students interested in teaching;
- enjoy USF’s challenge course and discover team building as a tool for learning;
- spend two days and one night in a USF dorm, supervised by adult program facilitators;
- leave inspired and focused on a plan to become a successful educator, and;
- earn college credit for participating in this learning experience (credit is optional, parent/guardian approval required).

Lists on which USF is recognized includes: Education – one of thirteen Illinois schools recognized; Nursing (DNP) – one of seven Illinois schools recognized; Nursing (Master’s) – one of nine Illinois schools recognized; and Physician Assistant.

Joliet, Ill. – The University of St. Francis (USF) and Sichuan University of Science & Engineering (SUSE) in Zigong, China, hosted their inaugural SUSE-USF Virtual Art, Design & Photography Symposium in April 2023.
The three-session event (April 11, April 18, and April 25, 2023) featured materials by fourteen USF and sixteen SUSE students and were in response to research completed on the Sichuan region and Chicagoland. The live and interactive event allowed student presenters from each institution to discuss art, design, and new media practices in an open forum format with roughly 300 students in attendance at the primary auditorium at SUSE in Zigong, China.
In addition to the symposium, USF students were introduced to traditional and new art practices and culturally significant materials of China. This included Sichuan tie-dying, the Zigong Dinosaur Museum, and the Chinese Lantern Festival in a Topics in Art & Design class during the Spring 2023 semester.
USF student presenters: Stephanie Behland, Karli Ceci, Jaclyn Duske, Ayla Gilmer, Liliana Gomez, Samantha Gonzalez, David Kalter, Jareset Lagunas, Nick Munafo, Mazi Niezgoda, E. Porter, Alvaro Robles, Isaac Rodriguez, and Alana Wendel.

Joliet, Ill. – The University of St. Francis (USF) recently inducted eleven student members into its chapter of the Psi Chi International Honor Society in Psychology. The induction ceremony took place on April 18, 2023, in USF’s Sexton Auditorium.
This year’s student inductees included: Olek Clark, Jalen Cooper, Ryan Czarnecki, Marissa Deering, Suzanne Fonck, Alexis Marroquin, Karley Mason, Mary Mathieu, Mary Grace McGrath, Mackenzie McGuire and Allison Ramsey.
Melinda Hammond, Psy.D., assistant professor of psychology, serves as the chapter’s faculty advisor.
