Dr. Karen Blaha is an Assistant Professor in the College of Education. She is a three-time alumni of the University of St. Francis, where she earned her doctorate in Educational Leadership, a master’s degree in Reading and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership. Prior to USF, Dr. Blaha was a school district administrator, a school principal, a reading specialist/literacy coach and an elementary teacher.
Dr. Blaha teaches in the Educational Leadership, Instructional Coaching, and ESL Endorsement programs, as well as being a dissertation advisor for doctoral students. Her area of research is culturally responsive practices that support diverse learners, and has been a co-researcher and co-authorof studies such as “Supporting BIPOC Candidates in Undergraduate Teacher Education Programs at a Predominantly White University” and “Opinion of primary school teachers about the Culturally responsive education practices used in the life Studies Lessons: Implementation of the practices used in the US to Turkey.”
