Kirsten earned a Bachelor of Arts in Substance Abuse Counseling from the University of St. Francis in 2019 and went on to complete a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at National Louis University. As a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC), Kirsten has worked extensively in the field of substance use counseling, bringing both practical experience and academic knowledge to her current role as Program Coordinator and teaching faculty for the Bachelor’s in Substance Abuse Counseling and the Postgraduate Certificate in Substance Abuse Counseling programs at the University of St. Francis.
With a passion for both education and mentorship, Kirsten is dedicated to helping students uncover their purpose and strive toward meaningful goals. Reflecting on the guidance and opportunities provided by her own mentors at the University of St. Francis, Kirsten aims to create a supportive and inspiring learning environment where students feel empowered to pursue their aspirations.
In the classroom, Kirsten fosters a dynamic and engaging atmosphere that encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and personal growth. Kirsten also serves as treasurer on the Illinois Certification Board. ICB promotes standards for professionals in the alcohol and other drug abuse field and accredits training programs in the substance abuse counseling field.
