University of St. Francis Academic Resource Center Earns Five-Year CRLA Recertification Under Leadership of Amanda Poston

Joliet, Ill. –The University of St. Francis continues to demonstrate its commitment to student success and academic excellence, as its Academic Resource Center (ARC) has successfully completed the rigorous process of recertification through the College Reading & Learning Association (CRLA). This prestigious recognition secures the ARC’s certification for another five years.

The recertification effort was led by Amanda Poston, Assistant Director of the Academic Resource Center, whose leadership and dedication ensured the center met the high standards required by CRLA’s International Tutor Training Program Certification. The process evaluates the quality, structure, and effectiveness of tutor training programs, confirming that institutions are providing best-in-class academic support services.

The ARC at the University of St. Francis plays a vital role in supporting students through free tutoring, supplemental instruction, and skill-building resources designed to enhance learning and academic performance. The center’s peer tutors undergo extensive training aligned with CRLA standards, with opportunities to earn Level 1 (Tutor), Level 2 (Advanced Tutor), and Level 3 (Master Tutor) certifications.

CRLA certification is widely recognized as a benchmark of excellence in tutoring and learning assistance programs. Maintaining this certification signifies that the ARC continues to provide structured, research-based training that equips tutors with essential skills in communication, problem-solving, and student engagement.

Poston, a University of St. Francis alumna and an adjunct professor in the College of Education Master’s program, has been instrumental in advancing the ARC’s mission of fostering independent learners and promoting academic achievement across campus. Under her guidance, the center remains a welcoming and impactful resource for students at all stages of their academic journey.

This recertification reinforces the University of St. Francis’ ongoing dedication to providing high-quality academic support services and empowering students to reach their full potential.
