University of St. Francis Opens New Student Success Center

Joliet, Ill. – On Wednesday, October 7, the University of St. Francis welcomed more than 200 attendees at a ribbon-cutting event and state of the university address in its new Student Success Center. The Center includes a new cafeteria and large gathering space for the university community along with a new suite of offices focused on student learning and support. The second floor is named in honor of a major estate gift from Dr. Dorothy A. Ritter, a 1966 alumna of the College of St. Francis.

University President Ryan C. Hendrickson expressed gratitude and excitement about the opportunities the new space will provide students.

“We are so pleased that students will enjoy and benefit from our new Student Succes Center and the Dorothy A. Ritter Ph.D., M.D. Center for Learning and Achievement,” he said. “The thoughtful design of these spaces will monumentally enhance student experiences and career opportunities.”

In his state of the university address, Hendrickson highlighted USF’s Duns Scotus Honors Program, which has tripled in growth this fall among first year students and positions the university to attract high-achieving students. In addition, the university announced an additional major financial gift to support this expansion. He also highlighted undergraduate enrollment growth this fall semester, recent USF faculty achievements in teaching and research, and the expansion of university athletics—particularly celebrating the academic achievements of USF’s student-athletes.
